Join us for an amazing opportunity for freshman and sophomore girls to be challenged and inspired by dynamic clinician Dr. Carolyn Cruse plus a stellar group of section leaders. This event is especially for those dedicated middle school students, many of whom are having to “start over” in high school to attain varsity status and region membership. At break time, students can mingle with other divas and rock out with karaoke to complete a great day of fun and accomplishment!

Clinician Bio

Dr. Carolyn Cruse is Associate Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music Education at Texas Tech University, where she conducts the Women’s Chorale and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music education. The TTU Women’s Chorale was invited to perform for SWACDA in 2012. Dr. Cruse has served as a clinician/conductor and festival adjudicator throughout Texas and in Colorado, Delaware, Florida, New Mexico, Illinois, and Michigan. She is a founding member of mirabai, a professional-level women’s choral ensemble dedicated to enhancing artistic expectations of women’s choral singing. Prior to her appointment at Texas Tech, Dr. Cruse taught middle and high school choral music in Richardson and Plano ISD’s. A native of the Houston area and a product of choral music education in Texas, Dr. Cruse is passionate about shaping and influencing lives through choral music.

Inclusions & Fees

Fees, Music, Food, & T-Shirts

Included in the $25 fee is a music packet which will be distributed during registration at the site. Water will be provided at the morning and afternoon breaks as well as at lunch. Snacks will be provided in the morning and afternoon. Students are asked to bring their own sack lunch. Lunch will be on campus to facilitate mixing and mingling during the lunch break.

Students are encouraged to show school spirit by wearing their choir shirt to the event. ACA-DIVA T-shirts are available by pre-order and pre-purchase only for $15 and will be delivered at registration. Those who order an ACA-DIVA shirt will have the opportunity to change prior to the culminating performance. Purchasing an ACA-DIVA shirt is not a requirement for festival participation.
